Carpe diem

Same early awakening as yesterday. Admin all day, except when I took Alice to and from Banbury to meet her friends. Completed J’s obituary notice for the local newspapers – and the ones local to the schools she taught at in West Sussex, London and Somerset. Inbetween form filling, I constructed a timeline of J’s life, including the detail of the last two and a half years. We did get a lot of family trips and treats into that time. The other thing I noticed was that J and I did fairly well on days out or weekends just by ourselves over the years. If you are married and have children then enjoy your time with them but remember your partner also. Carpe diem, memento mori.

Went up in the loft with Lucy to retrieve a few missing dates, documents – and a lot more photos. I used to think we had only a handful of “good” photos of J. (and she was even more fussy).  Now I fall upon every single picture of her. Massively upsetting of course. A bad day in that respect.

Have found a few more photos of Juliet teaching. Here’s one, taken at The Grange School in Banbury, 3rd September 2004 at the start of the new school year:

About hodders

Husband and proud father of two daughters. Now a widower. Trying to balance between not dwelling on Juliet's death, but telling the world how much I loved her. Tricky.
